Life begins and love never ends

The Human Life Protection Society was established in Tasmania in 1972 to uphold and promote the right to life for all human beings from conception to natural death.

With a non-denominational, non-party political approach, we are dedicated to showing the dignity of all human life from the womb to the tomb.

Who we help

The Society believes every human being is a unique and precious individual requiring our respect and support. We focus on the most vulnerable sectors in our communities: the unborn babies, the disabled and the frail and terminally ill.

Support for the Unborn

With almost 100,000 abortions committed in Australia each year, the challenge to protect babies and their mothers has never been greater. HLPS is committed to promoting awareness of the role of pregnancy support services and raising funds for this worthy cause.

Resources for the Disabled

HLPS believes in providing the highest possible quality of life to those who live with a disability. We advocate for the disabled and for the support agencies who affirm their rights.

Advocacy for the Terminally Ill

Another contemporary attack on human life is the proliferation of assisted dying legislation, which encourages the elderly and infirm to take their lives instead of offering them support and comfort. HLPS promotes agencies which support and affirm the right to life of the elderly and vulnerable.

How we help protect life

HLPS has three main areas of work to both advocate for the vulnerable and to help educate and inform the public.

  • HLPS promotes pregnancy, end-of-life and disability support
  • We lobby politicians to use their positions to protect human life
  • We educate the public via our News page
